We hope all of our taxi drivers are staying safe at the moment.
Many of you may be or are considering doing other driving or food/ shopping/ medicine/ parcel delivery work that you wouldn’t normally do and are thus unsure about what your taxi insurance covers.
Under the current circumstances, some taxi coverage is being adjusted and extended to make allowances for the new provisional work you’re doing – as an extension of trade use – so you may be able to get cover from your existing policy – without extra costs to you.
If your taxi is insured through Chalkwell Insurance, give us a call on 01702 715171 and we can try to assist you and make those policy amendments where applicable.
You may also be able to amend your policy to VLU, Vehicle Laid up, for a temporary period, if you decide not to work and keep your vehicle off the road. You will be required to do a SORN, Statutory Off Road Declaration, to the DVLA and provide proof if requested.
If this is of interest to you, contact us for more information.
Both insurance companies and brokers are working very hard at the moment to help keep drivers covered and in work where safe and possible, amid a time of great uncertainty, with staff off sick or having to work remotely. So, please allow for the extra time it may take to answer your queries or have your policies amended, for the time being.
Thank you!
Please stay safe, whether you are currently able to work or not, do take the necessary safety and social distancing measures to keep yourselves and any passengers safe.
If you experience any symptoms of COVID-19, it’s imperative that you stop working to self-isolate, as a precaution to you and others you may come into contact with.
